This is also a great place to have a megathread on user guides and opinions on each DE, beyond the obvious like I like GNOME or KDE rocks. This thread would be a great place to filter through old tutorials and to set up a concise guide to updated HowTo's to install all DE environments available. If anybody knows of any other DE please let me know. This is about all I have so far, my goal is to get e17 up and running, also I would like to get Blackbox installed. E-KDE- (not an actual individual DE, e16 combined with KDE) E-GNOME- (not an actual individual DE, e16 combined with GNOME)ĥ. Please see these two threads on my current conundrum with e17 in Xubuntu.Īnyway back to the wonderful subject matter at hand.Ĥ. If anyone can help me get e17 executable in Xubuntu, I would greatly appreciate it. This is true in most cases with the exception of e17, which seems to run better in elive gem. I found that once you have a solid distro base it is better just to install DE environments and simply restart X to log into any DE session that you want, then to jump around to 500+ distros. I have Xubuntu installed and I dual boot to Windows XP Media Center Edition. ![]() OK just to keep everyone up to date I am currently using Xubuntu.
